RESPONSIBILITIES

At Digitalization of White Biotechnology, we enable faster data-driven research decisions.
We implement solutions that enable easy entry and management of FAIR data and collaborate with computational biology to make sophisticated computational models and pipelines available for daily biotechnology research work.
To support our team, we are looking for a dedicated working student to start as soon as possible.

  • Your main project will focus on migrating thousands of biological sequence entries from a legacy database to a newer application (using scripting).
  • In addition, you will have a lot of opportunities to improve and speed-up daily work at the interface of biology, programming, and bioinformatics.
  • Furthermore, you will learn (and contribute to) our technology stack and a full software development process (from ideation to the result).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • programming skills and some understanding of biological terms (such as DNA, protein, nucleotide, amino acid, plasmid, genome, bacteria, gene).
  • experience scripting in Python, basic knowledge of bash, SQL databases, and git.
  • additional programming knowledge and experience (JavaScript, VueJS, Docker, FastAPI, ...) would be a plus.
