For our Institute of Flight Systems in Braunschweig we are looking for a Student aerospace/electrical engineering, computer science or similar (f/m/x) Drone Detection on RGB and Event-Camera Sensor Data What to expect: The Institute of Flight Systems is developing new concepts and technologies for autonomous unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The ability to detect and track other aircraft is fundamental for autonomous UAS missions. The institute is currently researching new perception technologies for more intelligent and safe autonomous systems.
Event-cameras are a cutting-edge technology that can detect and record events at over 10,000 frames per second, made possible by the camera's ability to detect and record only the changes in the scene, rather than capturing a complete image. This research proposal aims to explore the possibilities of using RGB cameras with event-cameras for the task of object detection in a highly dynamic sensor platform. By combining the strengths of both technologies, additional information about the object's appearance and behavior can be observed.
