Not only do we have deep database storage and systems programming problems to solve for our customers, but we also minimize the effort required to maintain SQL databases by automating administrative tasks like backup / restore, scaling CPU / RAM / storage and replication / fail-over for high availability, allowing our customers to spend their valuable time focused on building their businesses.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Site Leader to spearhead the expansion of our operations in Berlin. This is an exciting time for growth, and you will be responsible for establishing and managing the new site and ensuring operational excellence. Key responsibility include leading cross functional teams, managing site performance, overseeing recruitment, and fostering a strong company culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership with a proven track record of successfully scaling operations. With your hands-on technical expertise and strategic vision, you will play a pivotal role in evolving the capabilities of the Aurora Berlin team.

Key job responsibilities

Amazon Aurora is powered by an auto-scaling, auto-healing, distributed storage cluster of massive world-wide scale. Storage platform team is looking for a Development Manager to join our team and help us take the service to the next level. To apply for this role, you should possess solid analytical, design and problem diagnosis skills. Expertise with high-performance systems or service design is a plus. You should be comfortable building and managing teams through all phases of software development, including hiring and growing your own team of managers. The ability to translate high-level technical requirements into executable project plans is essential. Amazon Aurora provides unparalleled high-performance and availability at global scale with full MySQL and PostgreSQL compatibility. Aurora has broad compliance standards and best-in-class security capabilities. Aurora offers storage resiliency by making data durable across 3 AZs (customers only pay for 1 copy). Aurora has up to 99.99% availability, and customers can access local read performance with Global Database when deployed across AWS Regions. With serverless, Aurora can scale-up to hundreds of millions of transactions.

Aurora databases is backed up by a purpose built distributed storage service. This is a purpose built storage service to handle the relentless OLTP transactional load both from latency and throughput. Aurora storage is fault tolerant, highly redundant and continuously backs up data.

As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. GRUNDQUALIFIKATIONEN

- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- 8+ years’ experience building successful production software systems
- 6+ years management experience including a combination of experience hiring, managing performance, and providing technical leadership
- 2+ years’ experience managing managers
- 8+ years’ experience developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using C/C++, service-oriented architecture; and distributed programming

BEVORZUGTE QUALIFIKATIONEN

- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
- Experiences in working closely with remote teams
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment.
- Be highly innovative, inspiring, flexible and self-directed.
- Passionate about learning new technologies, frameworks and processes that can reinvent developer experiences.
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
