We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to work with experienced teams in Berlin, and help us deliver on our next generation of product and services from the ground up.
We’re looking for a passionate, team-oriented, and talented engineer in test who has experience in collaborating with software engineering teams creating test automation, testing protocols and plans, leading the testing culture in the organization ensuring a defect free experience in the sophisticated applications that our customers love.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead the design, implementation and delivery of test solutions using new or existing frameworks and technologies that test large-scale, critical and highly complex software
- Onboard existing and new services to adopt the latest test automation frameworks, covering functional, regression, and performance testing.
- Own and define the Quality Assurance (QA) processes and strategies across multiple teams, ensuring detailed documentation of the process and implementing process enhancements.
- Lead and influence a culture of quality across multiple teams, evangelizing testing best practices, and your defined processes and strategies to Software Development Engineers, Product Managers, and Project Managers.
- Define key metrics for measuring and reporting on the quality of software products and test effectiveness, and define goals and strategies to improve upon the quality of software
- Participate and lead design, code and process reviews.
- Create, maintain, and execute test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios for various software components, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
- Hold user acceptance testing events and provide input on the readiness of software for production deployment. - Identify and document defects, issues, and potential areas of improvement in the software development process.
- Collaborate on evolving testing frameworks that you will adopt, as well as the test suites to ensure the prioritization of our organizations needs and requested features
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in QA and testing, and apply this knowledge to continuously improve testing processes.
A day in the life
You will have a unique and challenging role that provides the opportunity to drive the testing strategy for the Community Feedback. You will lead our quality and testing culture, and evangelize the processes and strategies that you will set and define to multiple teams across our organization. Your influence will extend beyond coaching Software Development Engineers on the testing strategies and best practices, as we expect you to work with Software Development, Product and Project managers. You will coach and support teams to define their own tactics to elevate their software quality bar. You’ll be writing code that automatically verifies the quality of the product. You will collaborate with several teams on the planning and execution of complex and highly-technical projects with high impact and visibility.
About the team
We are looking for a passionate, talented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who can drive key engineering and business decisions that impact Amazon’s long-term vision. In this development role, you will have an opportunity to make a large impact on the quality of cutting edge products used every day, by people you know.
- - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- - 5+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
- - 3+ years of delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives experience
- -Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an Quality Assurance Engineering role
- -Experience in automation testing
- -Experience in manual testing
- - Knowledge of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
- - Experience in transforming manual testing to automated testing
- - Experience with web, mobile and API testing
