We hire and develop subject matter experts in robotics with a focus on mechanism design, workcell automation, and iterative prototyping.
We are seeking hands-on, Senior Hardware Development Engineer who will design, build, and test innovative robotic systems for deployment into the fulfillment network. The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems, enjoys analytical problem solving, and possesses practical knowledge of manufacturing methods.
Key job responsibilities
- Design first of a kind robotic systems for deployment in fulfillment centers
- Work with an interdisciplinary team to improve and maintain existing product designs including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
- Work with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth production transition of design changes
- Write requirements and functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
- Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership
- Mentor colleagues
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment
- Established background in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems with technology focus in Actuator and Sensor Evaluation
- Experience related to systems architecture, design, and system integration of mechatronic devices.
- SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
- Familiar with using and the capabilities of rapid prototyping equipment (CNC, 3D printing, waterjet, laser cutter,…).
- Built and deployed robots to production environments
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong hands on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models
- Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams of hardware and software engineers
- Proficiency with Agile Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s
- Significant experience with the hardware product development process.
- Demonstrated ability to develop deep understanding of the business and end user needs quickly, and can proficiently translate those needs into the right technology solution.
- Demonstrated small/large team leadership skills
