For our Institute of Aerospace Medicine in Köln we are looking for a Specialist Physician (f/m/x) Head of Cardiovascular Regulation and Atmospheric Conditioning Research Group What to expect: Are you interested in contributing to a better understanding of the effects of environmental and occupational factors in space, aviation, and on Earth (hypoxia, hypercapnia, real and simulated weightlessness) on human health, performance, and safety? The Department of Cardiovascular Aerospace Medicine at the Institute investigates the adaptation of the cardiovascular system to extreme environments. We seek a candidate with proven expertise and publication profile in the areas of cardiovascular medicine, altitude medicine, diving medicine, and baromedicine. The research profile should particularly include experience in translational patient-oriented research and conducting highly standardized controlled studies. This includes experience and in-depth knowledge of the use of hypobaric chambers and atmospheric conditioning, as well as a wide range of techniques for investigating cardiovascular function and respiration under these conditions. Extensive knowledge in emergency and intensive care medicine is also required.
We expect close collaboration with other research focuses of the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine, the University Hospitals of Cologne, Bonn, Aachen, and international academic research partners.
