The Sr Manager DPM, will lead and develop the team that works to ensure DSPs are providing reliable capacity to the network, achieving strong performance outcomes while enabling an exceptional DSP experience. They will collect intelligence and data insights from their team and central sources to devise tactical and strategic regional plans to ensure high quality, reliable delivery capacity is consistent, and will partner with Central EU DSP program teams to effect execution.
Key job responsibilities
1. Responsible for the overall quality, performance and reliability of the Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) in their area.
2. Drives vision for their area team and creation of quality initiatives, program change initiatives and partner sentiment improvement plans to enable their functional area and ultimately the network to meet and exceed business plan
3. Problem-solves for closing gaps between performance and goals. Will set and clarify requirements and expectations for Business Coach teams and partners.
4. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds DPMs accountable for their performance and the performance of their areas.
5. Sponsors senior relationships with DSP business owners to foster partnership and insight into mutual programmatic improvement.
6. Presents Quality and Reliability metrics regularly to the senior leadership team
7. Hires and develops top talent. Creates and implements a talent plan for their area including talent acquisition, performance and career management, learning and development, succession planning, and employee engagement
8. Develops strong partner and stakeholder relationships with opposite operations leadership groups (OTR) to ensure strategic and tactical congruence.
9. Cultivates strong culture and engagement throughout all levels of the country delivery stations (DS) and operational teams (OTR)
10. Takes proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments.
11. Works with key business partners such as EU DSP Program teams, continuous improvement teams (OTR ACES), Finance, audit and compliance team (TRC & CC), Capacity planning, Loss Prevention, IT, HR to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, as well as providing needed support and resources for other staff initiatives
A day in the life
You’ll be based at one of our sites. Being on site allows you to stay close to every part of the delivery process and means you have visibility of everything to guide our logistics partners. You’ll look after all elements of our partner relationships, from getting the contracts in place to keeping track of performance.
This role is all about clear communication. You’ll be in daily contact with the partners you manage to make sure they have everything they need to carry out deliveries on time.
About the team
Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles ‘last mile’ delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilise creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of our customers. Our goal is to make our customers’ delivery experience as smooth as possible and roll out global delivery solutions for our newest concepts, like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon Restaurants.
There are two sides to what we do. Our ‘under the roof’ associates process millions of products for dispatch to our delivery teams. Our team is people-focused and supportive, particularly as lots of our people work through the night. We focus mostly on operations, with 24/7 shifts in most of our locations.
Meanwhile, our ‘on the road’ people work with Amazon Flex - a network of delivery contractors. Every year, we continually raise the bar for customer experience with new, innovative delivery services. We look for new ways to overcome industry wide logistics challenges and new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint, supported by a portfolio of cutting-edge vehicles (including Electric Vehicles) and technology to help us do just that.
10 years plus in the logistics (manufacturing, production or distribution environments) industry, ideally 5 of which would have been at a senior level role managing multi-site locations, including either upsizing or downsizing a business
Demonstrate strong track record in 3rd party company management or key account management
The role holder should hold an MBA or have equivalent qualification why or workplace experience
Goal driven, target orientated, able to step back and look at the bigger picture (helicopter view), the person will also be able to manage ambiguity with their sleeves rolled up, and possess a preparedness to get involved
Demonstrate strong track record of team leadership within a large scale rapid and process driven environment – must have end to end process management experience
Demonstrate a strong track record of problem solving and very strong analytical skill capability as he/ she will is required to look at and find solutions for a variety of operations problems.
Excellent communication skills (English written and verbally)
High dependability – be there to manage department – and able to use initiative
Must be flexible and able to manage a business that can operate 24/7 (including holidays) and commit the time required to get the job done.
Demonstrate ability to manage, motivate, and influence work behaviors
Proven ability to improve metrics at a country level
• Experience of managing 3rd party companies and key accounts
• Experience leading process improvements through Lean process, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
• Experience project planning in ambiguous environment
• Strong communication (public speaking and writing).
• Enjoys analytical work and using data to provide thought-provoking and workable solutions.
• Proven experience of helping teams achieving goals.
