Job purposes

  • Based in the Supplier Quality Management and Incoming Quality Control (SQM+ IQC) team within the Quality Department in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam - the company is looking for a subject matter expert in measuring solutions using different measurement equipment and to develop a strong and capable team through efficient and effective processes to support internal/external customers.

  • The successful person is required to drive alignment of measuring methodology between internal/external suppliers to achieve the knowledge of each gap and provide solutions to achieve stable and sustainable verification methodology at both our Company and the suppliers’ site.

Major Accountabilities

The key responsibilities of this role are mainly divided into three broad areas of Measuring Lab Tasks, First Article Evaluation and Material Complaint Management

  • Measuring Lab Tasks:
    • Ensure all projects/ operations and relevant KPIs within the team are successfully achieved
    • Manage a small team of technicians and engineers, maintain training materials and supervise training matrix as required
    • Support the administration of the measuring lab processes and liaise with the co-working areas
    • Define, plan, coordinate and implement tests, measurement systems, procedures and processes
    • Evaluate measurement systems – equipment, evaluate and supervise capability studies
    • Prepare and organize measuring methods, programs and upload measurement reports and test reports in the company's documentation system
    • Execute periodic quality evaluation, coordinate and follow-up on measurement activities
    • Develop measuring room, purchase new equipment (through co-decision making) and maintain/ supervise existing equipment
  • First Article Evaluation (external):
    • Assure the quality of drawing related parts with intention to only release parts according to specifications
    • Support engineers/technician for escalated first article qualification topics (handling supplier reports, evaluate, drive deviations to supplier, internal verification with colleagues)
    • Ensure the team develop inspection plan according to specifications
    • Inform incoming inspection team on inspection plans, special instructions etc.
    • Perform risk assessment on escalated cases to determine next activities required
  • Material Complaint Management:
    • Act as a proxy to this process and responsible for delivery of insufficient quality raw materials and merchandize parts
    • Organize and lead quality meetings with relevant stakeholders to drive quality improvements on raw material and merchandize parts (with internal teams and external suppliers through all ways possible (online/in-person)
    • Participate in various meetings with different stakeholders to review material on hold, highlight bad quality situation and escalate if needed

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Material, Quality or its equivalent from a reputable University
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in an international manufacturing setup, of which at least 1 year of Laboratory/ Measurement Room and 3 years of team management experience
  • Strong English proficiency (both written and spoken) is a must for this position. Proficiency in a local Asian language (e.g. Vietnamese) is highly regarded.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) which relates to 3D measurement methodology is essential for this role
  • Knowledge in using quality tools (i.e. Fishbone Diagrams, 5-Whys, 8D, Gage R&R, FMEA, SPC, etc.); in ISO9001 quality system requirements and basic Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in handling supplier in the region, exposure to different manufacturing processes of precision parts (i.e. CNC/ machining/ stamping/ molding) as well as working with different types of materials are an added advantage
  • Experience with 3D measurements / programming (CMM) and CAD-CAM software are welcomed
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team setting, and comfortable interacting with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
