DESY, with more than 2900 employees at its two locations in Hamburg and Zeuthen, is one of the world's leading research centres. Its research focuses on decoding the structure and function of matter, from the smallest particles of the universe to the building blocks of life. In this way, DESY contributes to solving the major questions and urgent challenges facing science, society and industry. With its ultramodern research infrastructure, its interdisciplinary research platforms and its international networks, DESY offers a highly attractive working environment in the fields of science, technology and administration as well as for the education of highly qualified young scientists.
For high end synchrotron radiation applications, the 3rd generation source PETRA III is available since 2009 as one of the most brilliant hard X-ray sources worldwide currently operating 23 undulator beamlines for experiments utilizing the extreme source brilliance. The new beamline P25 is being built for innovative industrially relevant applications across several endstations, and will also serve as a testbed for new technical developments towards PETRA IV. Commissioning and User experiments are planned from 2025-26. We are currently looking for a scientist to support commissioning and operation particularly of the scanning microprobe endstation.
- Support the design, installation and commissioning of instrumentation at the beamline, particularly the scanning microprobe
- Support user groups at P25
- Perform advanced experiments making use of the specific beamline capabilities
- Involvement in development of software for data evaluation and experiment control
- Develop own independent research and participate in collaborative projects with external groups
Look forward to a unique working environment on our international research campus. Respectful cooperation and the well-being of our DESY employees are particularly important to us.
