This tenure track position focuses on the implementation of advanced lasing concepts at the EuXFEL. In particular, the generation of sub-fs X-ray pulses using various techniques, including eSASE and chirp/dispersion/compression. The project is still under development and the hired researcher will be able to shape it and contribute to its success. The person will work within the virtual FEL R&D framework.
- FEL and beam dynamics simulation studies for both eSASE and chirp/dispersion/compression
- Further the development of structured light
- Implement novel FEL schemes at the EuXFEL
- Support of the EuXFEL operation
- Independent research and presentation of the achieved results

Limited: initially limited to 3 years with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position
- PhD in physics, accelerator or FEL related field with both theoretical and practical experience
- Research background in beam dynamics or FEL physics, especially in the sub-fs pulse generation
- Experience with numerical simulations (Elegant/Genesis/Ocelot. .. ) and high-level scripting languages
- Good command of English, knowledge of German is an advantage
- Excellent teamwork skills in an international environment
