Position overview

The role of the Sales and Special Events Manager is to continuously drive profitability and increase bookings at the Porsche Experience Center from the B2C (retail consumer), B2B (corporate/group), and VIP businesses while maintaining the highest level of customer service and professionalism. The Sales and Special Events Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the sales process, setting objectives and initiatives in alignment with Senior Management, and for both the short-term and long-term sales strategies to meet operational and brand targets.

This role is responsible for overseeing a Sales & Events Team to maintain the flawless execution of event/group sales (600+ per year) and on-site event management related to the utilization of the center’s venue spaces and track environment, as well as overseeing event vendors. This position will strategize to effectively curate lead generation and new business development and outreach in partnership with the Marketing and Business Development Manager (internal), Catering Sales Manager (agency partner), and local agencies. In addition, overseeing the Customer Experience Team to ensure all guests receive the highest level of customer service and professionalism throughout the facility.

The Sales and Special Events Manager is a direct liaison with other organizational groups within the Porsche Experience Center such as the Drive Team, Facility Team, Security Team, IT Team, and Food Service Team.

Roles & responsibilities

Sales (B2B and B2C) and CX

Lead a Customer Experience Team to ensure an experience befitting of the Porsche brand is delivered at all touchpoints, from the phone to the website, to the on-site experience and post-activity.

Lead a Sales & Special Events Team to effectively grow revenues, maximize venue capacity, and leverage the on-site resources (food & beverage, IT, AV) to provide for a seamless event experience for all clients (internal and external).

  • Ensure a high level of customer service among all teams
  • Monitor team effectiveness and staffing levels to ensure the Customer Experience team can meet Porsche KPI’s for call center metrics
  • Generate necessary sales materials and route via internal channels for proper approvals
  • Create a training/process handbook for new team members and provide training as needed
  • Account for a flexible workforce, including sales and guest experience functions (tours and brand knowledge)
  • Provide accurate sales reports, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Monitor website to ensure that all programs, events, and availability remains current and adjust as needed
  • Work in conjunction with PEC leadership to identify new programs and curriculums for customers
  • Coordinate with PEC Business Operations Manager and drive team to ensure that program development, demand and sales targets are aligned
  • Conduct benchmarking as needed
  • Track sales targets: incoming leads, conversions, repeat business and other relevant KPI’s for opportunities
  • Foster outreach and build new relationships with local hotels and other specialists in the hospitality industry
  • Work directly with Marketing and Business Development Manager to effectively drive awareness and traffic to promote sales
  • Develop key local and regional relationships to obtain new business and further retention of existing business
  • Build and strengthen community contacts, outreach, and involvement to leverage opportunities.
  • Solicit customer feedback and monitor surveys for best practices and improvement actions as necessary

Events (B2B, Internal and Special Events)

Lead a Sales & Events team to find new and innovative ways to maximize facility space while driving revenue, profitability and ensuring the PEC as a destination for new target groups and enthusiasts.

  • Manage availability and booking of center venue and track facilities
  • Supplement the B2B sales team as needed with quoting and contracting group events
  • Coordinate on-site event activations that leverage the brand to bring new audiences and platforms to the PEC while assisting in off-site events and marketing activations
  • Develop event quotes and formal contracts for all corporate/group activity
  • Work in conjunction with PCNA legal to ensure all contracts, waivers and terms and conditions remain relevant to protect company assets
  • Scheduling of client appointments to help promote, support, and develop new relationships
  • Oversee logistics and delivery of all group events, including but not limited to corporate/meetings, small groups, special events, internal Porsche events hosted
  • Set best practice standards and post-event reconciliations
  • Ensure the flawless execution of all events, including major internal events and external facility buyouts
  • Establish quarterly goals and overall annual revenue targets to achieve PCNA yearly objectives set forth by PEC Management team and PCNA
  • Actively liaise with the food & beverage partner and other vendors as the main point of contact
  • Supervise events team to deliver upon client expectations in alignment with Porsche standards
  • Ensure a mechanism of communication for all sales and events to the proper individuals for a seamless execution
  • Solicit customer feedback and monitor surveys for best practices and improvement actions as necessary
  • Develop key local and regional relationships in order to obtain new business and further retention of existing business with travel to conferences and events as required
  • Build relationships with the field team and Porsche Centers to engage them with relevant PEC content and offers
  • Provide accurate sales reports, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Maintain an overall calendar to report on availability and utilization as needed
  • Coordinate with Marketing Manager to achieve annual event and marketing goals in conjunction with ensuring overall event execution of offsite marketing activations

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

Education

  • Bachelors’ degree or relevant experience for education substitute

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in either a corporate management, sales, or event planning capacity

Specialized knowledge

  • Automotive industry experience is preferred
  • Hospitality/service industry experience is preferred
  • Luxury brand experience is preferred

Skills /Abilities

    • Proficient computer skills in all Microsoft office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to manage and oversee several activities at once
    • Proficient working in a multi-cultural environment

Percentage of required travel: 15%

Schedule/Shift: Monday – Friday; evenings and weekends as required by events. Saturdays on a rotational schedule.

The role is on-site, with one work from home day a week.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand for long period of time during events, climb stairs on occasion with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to effectively work and complete tasks in an open office/noisy environment.

The salary range for this role is $100,000-$115,000. However, it is important to note that at Porsche, compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset. Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.
