Scientific activities/projects Enter the fascinating world of the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) and help shape the future through research and innovation! We offer an exciting and inspiring working environment driven by the expertise and curiosity of our 11,000 employees from 100 nations and our unique infrastructure. Together, we develop sustainable technologies and thus contribute to finding solutions to global challenges. Would you like to join us in addressing this major future challenge? Then this is your place! For our Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics in Hamburg we are looking for a Research Scientist (f/m/x) mechanical, aerospace, software engineering or similar Development of software supporting the design of aeronautical systems What to expect: The Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics is exploring the overall aeronautical system with all its parameters and interdependencies. The way in which the various components of the overall system are linked together is called architecture. How can individual technological building blocks, aircraft configurations and operational concepts be designed, combined and optimized to best achieve this goal? How can integrated cabin concepts, passenger comfort, circular material use and efficient industrialisation be reconciled?
To address the complexity of this challenge, we are relying on the increasing availability of digital methods and tools. In this context, a design and optimization environment is being developed to support the architecting and design of aeronautical systems. This environment incorporates the latest Multidisciplinary Design and Optimization (MDO) technologies and uses Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods. This environment enables engineering processes to accelerate the development of complex aeronautical systems while meeting design requirements and addressing production and certification constraints.
As part of our team, your activities will focus on the development, testing and maintenance of research software solutions, as well as the development of innovative methods for data integration between heterogeneous engineering tools. The integration platform will combine software developed in our institute for the design of aircraft, from requirements management to trade-off analyses, including system architecting and multidisciplinary optimization. The resulting platform will enable the integrated design and optimization of aircraft and aeronautical systems through the collaboration of heterogeneous teams of experts. The integration platform will be developed in close co-operation with DLR institutes and within the context of internal DLR, German and EU projects. The developments will be validated through interdisciplinary design studies involving relevant industry experts.
What we expect from you:
