Position Overview

Details of the role and how it fits into the team

Deutsche Bank’s Risk function has group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market & operational risks. CRM is an independent credit approval and monitoring function that uses in-depth analysis of counterparties, industries and sovereign risk enabling Deutsche Bank to optimize its counterparty risk management.

The CRM GCAF Berlin Team is a specialized credit team within Risk covering a diverse portfolio of Financial Institutions and Corporates with lower risk credit exposures.

The candidate will be required to handle the workflow for a dedicated portfolio of counterparties including the annual credit and rating reviews, monitoring and updating of ratings as needed, and handle respective transactions in a timely manner, following the credit standards and approved credit processes of Deutsche Bank. This also comprises working with respective business, credit and other infrastructure functions to ensure data quality and internal policy standards.

Your key responsibilities

  • Handling and monitoring of a defined portfolio of Corporates, Financial Institutions and / or Municipalities in Developed or Emerging Markets; potentially initial focus on ICC rated German MidCaps and/or on FSC products involving a large number of obligors

  • Preparation of initial rating and credit reports as well as regular reviews of high complexity incl. taking credit decisions within delegated credit authority

  • Processing and documentation of credit transactions of high complexity in a timely manner, incl. approval or preparation of ready-to-approve decision proposals to staff with higher credit authority

  • Product range to be covered (from a credit perspective) mainly stems from lower risk vanilla transactions, such as non-complex derivatives e.g. FX Forwards, Interest Rate Swaps or commercial banking products, such as Trade Finance, Cash Management, Settlement and Collection

  • Coordination of incoming enquiries and tasks, respectively, as well as communication across all level of the function 

Your skills and experiences

  • Special vocational training or appropriate professional experience required, i.e. University degree (University, Fachhochschule or Berufsakadamie) preferably in Finance, Business, Accounting or Economics beneficial and several years of relevant experience in credit risk management or a commercial banking role preferred, however, other candidates will be considered

  • Strong analytical skills; good knowledge of balance sheet analysis (financial reporting); good knowledge of credit products (at entry level basic knowledge is acceptable); sound understanding of economic and banking system; general interest in regulatory topics

  • Proficient in English and at least one additional language (verbally and written) according to actual requirements and regularly encompassing German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Russian, Dutch and Nordic languages

  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills; very good time management skills, ability to cope with large data volumes

  • High degree of self-motivation and self-initiative; accuracy and a well-structured work approach; ability to cope well under pressure and with tight deadlines
