Position Overview

Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) concentrates Deutsche Bank’s quantitative and modelling expertise paired with change management capabilities within a single unit. GSA takes a cross-business and cross-functional approach to solving analytics and quantitative modelling challenges and rolls out common development standards.

You will join the Non-Financial & PB Credit Risk Analytics unit within GSA, which is a team comprised of people with business, technology, and risk methodology experience. The team’s focus is to develop advanced analytics for all non-financial risk types as an enabler of pro-active risk management purposes. It equally engages in similar work to support the private bank division model development in particular in relation to data sourcing for credit risk models covering the bank’s retail businesses.

Your focus will be on the quantitative support for the sourcing of customer, transaction and workout data required to further enhance Deutsche Bank’s credit risk measurement models and its parameters. In the medium term, the role will further expert into supporting our PB businesses and Risk functions with optimised end-to-end risk management processes and advanced analytics.

Your experience allows you to take on responsibility for deliveries and be a mentor to less experienced colleagues.

Your key responsibilities

  • You design effective algorithms to convert data from multiple Deutsche Bank systems into aggregate information required as input into the bank’s credit risk model development processes

  • You use your creativity to deliver the best possible outcome from the source data at hand to meet the internal and regulatory requirements for credit risk parameter calibrations as specified by the credit risk model developers

  • You ensure your solutions are scalable and allow for a high level of automation and are modular enough so they can be re-used and reduce the effort and complexity for maintenance and the development of new features

  • You verify model performance and ensure that modeling choices and assumptions are within the bounds of the bank’s policies as well as regulatory requirements

  • You safeguard the integrity of your work by embedding quality assurance controls and pro-actively propose ways to overcome and/or mitigate data driven deficiencies

  • You document and explain model results and work with business contacts, risk managers and your GSA colleagues to continuously improve the risk management capabilities of the bank

Your skills and experiences

  • Based on your university degree in mathematics, science or economics you have a strong quantitative background with extensive analytical experiences

  • You have gained several years of professional experience in a similar position when working at the interface between business and modelling

  • You have experience in high-quality software development and have coded applications in Python and/or C++, database experience is a plus

  • You have the ability to think through processes holistically, to detect and assess interdependencies and develop innovative and creative solutions

  • You know how to effectively structure and prioritize your work and deliver high quality results

  • Prior exposure to finance and knowledge about credit and / or operational risk modelling and / or capital methodology is a plus

  • Proficient in English (spoken and written), German language skills beneficial
