•Manage on-site production personnel, including Systems Technicians, VMI Technicians, Operations Technicians, Electrical Technicians, Mechanical Technicians, Traincare Technicians, Assistant Technicians, and Traincare Operatives.
•Oversee all site visitors, including sub-contractors, ensuring they have the necessary Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and competencies, along with relevant Depot Safety Training.
•Provide first-line management for production personnel, including appraisals, disciplinary actions, competency assessments, and attendance management.
•Ensure effective rostering to meet contract requirements and additional resource needs for outstabling, special events, and possessions.
•Plan and allocate work to personnel according to maintenance plans, including planned, corrective, overhaul, and extra work.
•Ensure personnel competency for assigned tasks in line with the competence management system and support their development and maintenance of competence.
•Mentor and support new starters with initial, on-the-job, or enhanced training, including assessments.
•Attend performance meetings to represent Stadler regarding performance and delay attribution.
•Liaise with Nexus regarding off-Depot facilities such as Howden Satellite Depot and Nexus Learning Centre.
•Demonstrate competence in manual point switching, panel operation, blocking, and depot isolation procedures.
•Support business operations by ensuring trains are provided as required, meeting all criteria for product and people safety, reliability, and train presentation, in line with environmental legislation.
•Respond to and support customers with in-service faults and breakdowns, taking control in “first response” situations as needed.
•Ensure accurate documentation for fleet maintenance activities, both paper and computer based.
•Support materials management, ensuring stock withdrawals are correctly coded and materials returned for warranty or repair are handled efficiently.
•Maintain personal competencies, ensuring timely planning and addressing of any upcoming or overdue competencies.
•Adhere to industry best practices in engineering and production, supporting the development and implementation of standards and procedures in line with legal, legislative, and moral obligations.
•Ensure effective reporting and correction of issues with tools, equipment, facilities, and assets through regular checks, audits, and inspections.
•Promote a zero-harm culture within the production function.
•Ensure compliance with engineering, hygiene, tool, and calibration management procedures.
•Initiate and implement actions to prevent product non-conformities, rail safety and compliance issues, QHSE incidents, process deficiencies, or system deficiencies, including timely and thorough reporting.
•Adhere to safety and quality systems, supporting their implementation through appropriate inspections and checks, including “in-process checks,” “safety tours,” and general condition assessments.
•Conduct annual risk assessments to identify and quantify risks, completing Risk •Assessments (RAs) and maintaining the risk register.

•Perform additional relevant tasks as required, within reason.
•Relevant experience in rail, depot, and managerial roles.
•NVQ Level 5 or equivalent in a relevant subject.

Desirable
•Proven extensive experience in an operational transport and production environment with knowledge of Rolling Stock units.
•Electrical and mechanical time-served or equivalent qualification with suitable shop floor experience.
•Knowledge and experience in advanced Lean, Kaizen, 6S, and other modern production techniques.
•Knowledge and experience in conducting and contributing to complex root cause investigations.
•Strong knowledge, experience, and understanding of risk and safety in the workplace, within a transport environment, and from a production perspective.
•Proven experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating all manner of risks, and documenting risk registers to demonstrate compliance and form the basis of safe systems of work.
•Formal education to NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
