WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

As part of an enthusiastic global team of experts in our department Group Research, you will work on developing and applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to predict molecular properties, focusing on toxicological effects. This role requires close collaboration with academic partners from universities, aiming for joint publications.

 

  • You will be part of a motivated, interdisciplinary and diverse team of cheminformaticians collaborating with computational chemists, data scientists, medicinal chemists, biologists and many others to find the best solution.
  • As a Postdoctoral Researcher you will use machine learning techniques such as transformers to analyze and interpret industry relevant datasets, enhancing our team's capabilities for molecular property prediction, particularly in toxicology.
  • Moreover you will create pipelines to compile datasets from public and internal proprietary sources to develop new methods for property prediction.
  • In addition to working with small molecules, there are opportunities to collaborate with other groups, including material sciences, (e.g. polymers), or quantum chemistry, based on your background and interests.

WHAT YOU OFFER

Mandatory Skills:

  • successfully completed PhD in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • during your research you have gained expertise in machine learning used for small molecule property prediction or other related tasks
  • strong/effective interpersonal and communication skills in English will facilitate your work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • familiarity with the Python programming language, including the concepts of functions and classes as well as experience with scikit-learn and PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • excitement about learning new skills and contributing to a collaborative environment


Optional Skills:

  • experience with LLM architectures and training
  • background with knowledge in toxicology
  • deeper understanding of Python/ Software development
  • experience with RDKit as cheminformatics library
  • experience with tools around machine learning deployment and versioning such as git, CI/CD pipelines, DVC, docker, FastAPI, SQL, working in high performance computing environments
  • german language skills
