WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

In the LC, LC-MS, Bioanalytics & Bioformulation group at BASF, you will be part of a dedicated and highly qualified team. You will join an enthusiastic, interdisciplinary global team of experts within our Analytical & Material Science Department and actively participate in the BASF innovation process for a sustainable future. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our dynamic team in the role of Mass Spectrometry Specialist. In this position, you will:

  • Play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of cutting-edge mass spectrometry methodologies and workflows that are essential to advancing our research initiatives.
  • Provide scientific support for a variety of complex proteomics projects, which will encompass vital tasks such as protein identification and quantification, as well as post-translational modification (PTM) analysis.
  • Engage in hands-on laboratory work, where you will perform liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) sample preparation, measurement, and analysis.
  • Analyze mass spectrometry data to translate these findings into actionable insights that will significantly contribute to ongoing research efforts at BASF.
  • Collaborate with various partners and stakeholders to discuss project requirements, results, and potential implications of your findings. Building strong relationships will be a key aspect of your role, as you work collaboratively to foster innovation.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • PhD in a related scientific field, such as biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, analytics, or a comparable discipline, with proven expertise in biological mass spectrometry and proteomics
  • expertise in handling proteomics sample preparation, operating, and troubleshooting Thermo Orbitrap and Bruker time-of-flight instrumentation
  • a proven track record in analyzing mass spectrometry data, particularly in proteomics, along with proficiency in advanced data analysis tools
  • experience in metabolomics and/or programming skills will be considered a plus.
  • a passion for understanding complex problems and taking the initiative to develop new and creative approaches to solve them
  • effective communication skills with various scientific disciplines and partners in both German and/or English
