RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of an enthusiastic global team of experts, you will provide bioinformatics analyses and decision support to our biotechnology research and development activities.

  • Your tasks will include collecting, analyzing and comparing biological data, drawing conclusions from your analyses as well as communicating results, interpretations and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
  • You will work closely with experimental molecular biology and sequencing labs and use your familiarity with a breadth of NGS data and bioinformatics techniques to develop innovative solutions to biotechnology problems.
  • You will provide guidance to our project partners regarding experimental planning and setup, data collection and processing.
  • You will take part in the development of new methods using sequencing technologies and guide establishment of new assays in molecular analytics.
  • Moreover, you will play a significant role in managing projects as well as active participation in global cross-functional teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology, or a related field like Biology, Systems Biology or Biochemistry with experience in handling and analysis of NGS and biological data
  • Profound scripting abilities (e.g. Python, R, shell scripting) are required, experience in at least one programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of UNIX-like operating systems as well as database systems and thorough knowledge of bioinformatics tools
  • Experience in handling and analysing genomics, transcriptomics or proteomics data
  • Preferred experience working with NGS data from both prokaryotes and eukaryotes
  • Basic experience working with workflow managers and containerization would be a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and the initiative to actively communicate with data producers and data users in an interdisciplinary environment
