Material Planning Operation Specialist, NPI

Role Purpose:

To support the timely availability of raw materials and merchandise for new product introductions (NPI) and mass production, the Material Planning Operation, NPI will assist operational procurement activities, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure adherence to operational processes to meet production schedules and project timelines.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Support and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure reliable and efficient supply chains
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on supplier performance, including delivery, quantity, reliability, and KPIs. Collaborate with Purchasing to develop and execute control plans to improve supplier ratings and handle escalations
  • Execute purchase and distribution orders (PO/DO) using the planning system, considering both upstream and downstream requirements
  • Issue direct and indirect Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up on order confirmations to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Update and maintain data in the ERP system in alignment with planning concepts and operational workflows
  • Ensure timely planning, purchasing, and receipt of materials. Track and maintain optimal inventory levels within approved guidelines and defined KPIs
  • Collaborate with related departments (R&D, SCM, QM, etc.) to analyze demand, resolve critical issues (e.g., quality concerns), and adjust raw material delivery schedules to minimize disruptions to production, project timelines, and customers
  • Conduct RFQs within the approved supplier list, justify premium purchases or transport changes, and follow up on external claims related to price, quantity, and quality discrepancies
  • Coordinate engineering changes or alternative solutions with internal departments and suppliers to ensure seamless implementation
  • Review commodities with shelf-life constraints or solderability requirements to ensure availability and compliance
  • Minimize obsolete stock and scrap costs by reviewing and managing material scrap activities. Ensure purchased raw materials and merchandise comply with contract requirements and government specifications
  • Prepare and report operation-related KPIs, including SFM participation and escalation handling. Provide weekly and monthly reports to stakeholders

Role Requirements:

  • At least Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business or equivalent
  • Business fluent or native-language English (written and spoken)
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a professional structure manufacturing environment as material buyer, project buyer or purchasing officer
  • Strong knowledge of ordering process via ERP system and sourcing for ex-stock/ spot buy
  • Commodity technical knowledge would be an advantage, especially in electronic component
  • Team player with ability to collaborate well with all levels and across organization boundaries
  • Self-motivated and with great initiative
