Manager - Enterprise Applications - Manufacturing

BIOTRONIK is currently looking for a Manager for their Enterprise Applications – Manufacturing team to collaborate with our Medical Device Manufacturing business unit in Lake Oswego, OR. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the digital factory expansion in a world class environment. You will be managing the service delivery and application support for our Digital Factory Systems and Manufacturing Operations. You will focus specifically on managing and expanding the core Siemens/Camstar MES application system, a highly integrated SAP ERP as well as a fully automated production line. You will be managing a small team and execute projects to implement new capabilities and system improvements as well as manage daily support for enterprise digital factory applications. The role also functions as IT Business Partner for manufacturing. As such you will be part of the extended Manufacturing Operations Sr. Management team in an advisory and consulting function.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and grow the Enterprise Applications - Manufacturing team
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to team members (technical and organizational)
  • Lead the expansion of our Enterprise Application landscape in line with our global IT strategy – pillar applications are SAP ERP (currently on ECC, move to S/4 HANA planned), SAP PI/PO, Siemens/Camstar/Opcenter MES and MIO, BusinessObjects and Qlik
  • Lead software upgrade projects in a validated and quality controlled manufacturing environment
  • Help define and execute on our local and global IT roadmap
  • Collaborate with and influence key IT partners and business teams in our HQ in Berlin
  • Collaborate with key local business partners, provide consulting and best practices towards middle and senior management in production, engineering, quality, as well as in 3rd party OEM sales and business development
  • Provide central functions for the team (project and portfolio planning, capacity planning and expansion, objective and performance management)
  • Act as escalation point for application related issues, handle VIP communication
  • Define and execute support and governance models for existing and new applications
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities with business and IT infrastructure teams

Your Profile

  • BA BA or MS Degree in Computer Science, InformatiStrong background and industry experience in manufacturing and production automation (24x7 operations), high-tech or medical device manufacturing highly desired
  • Understanding of manufacturing reference architecture and related concepts
  • Experience in managing technical and cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of Production Planning, Quality Management and Material Management (ideally in SAP ERP)
  • Experience with supporting MES systems – ideally Camstar/Opcenter Siemens MES.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and related master and transaction data (materials, BOMs, routings, work centers, material movements, production orders, containers, …)
  • Experience in writing SQL statements, understanding ER diagrams and DB schemas
  • At least basic understanding of infrastructur and hosting environments (Windows Server, Networking, relational databases, application services)
  • Solid understanding of modern interfacing and integration standards (SOAP, REST)
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting complex and business critical issues
  • Proven methodical approach to troubleshooting and root cause analysis, ability to quickly navigate from user problem to technical root cause
  • Ability to abstract and articulate technical complexities to non-technical users, incl. Sr. Management
  • on Systems, Engineering or similar


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with PLM and Document management systems
  • Software verification/validation background
  • Understanding of industry standards such as ISO:13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following dev languages: PL/SQL, Java, C#, JavaScript
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Principles (GMP)
