GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.
GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU-funded tender: “Technical Assistance for the development of eco-tourism in Malawi”.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to Malawi’s sustainable development of the ecotourism sector.
Its specific objectives are:
- Specific Objective 1: Develop diversified and sustainable natural resource-based tourism products with and for rural communities, with a priority for women and youth,
- Specific Objective 2: Institutions at national, district and local levels better manage natural and cultural resources for tourism,
- Specific Objective 3: Promote Malawi as an ecotourism destination on domestic, regional and international markets.
The Key expert 2: Tourism Product Development and Marketing Expert will be responsible for the implementation of activities related to tourism product development and marketing.
Qualification and skills
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in tourism management, marketing and promotion, tourism development or other relevant, directly related discipline;
- Fluent in English (at least C1 level; Language levels are defined for understanding, speaking and writing skills by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages available at https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/resources/european-language-levels-cefr and should be demonstrated by certificates or by past relevant experience).
General professional experience
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience working in the tourism sector, preferably ecotourism,
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Governments, international partners, private sector operators and local communities.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing technical assistance for public authorities and agencies in tourism marketing and promotion and product development.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in development cooperation projects, preferably EU funded.
Specific professional experience
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working on tourism marketing and promotion projects, preferably ecotourism,
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working on development of ecotourism or sustainable tourism products and tourism services,
- Must have experience in working on community-based tourism projects,
- Must have experience in any of these areas and complementary to KE1: ecotourism standards and certification; or in tourism statistics.
- Experience of working in SADC or EAC tourism destinations is an asset.
