Summary:

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager is to provide HSE support to site leadership within our Appleton Fabrics facility. The HSE Manager consults with the NA HSE team, Operations Management to formulate safety policies, programs, procedures, and most importantly, fosters a safety culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a Culture of HSE throughout the plant to reduce incidents.
  • Actively lead plant teams that address HSE issues.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve HSE procedures and policies.
  • Facilitate regulatory visits by internal and external entities, as required.
  • Manage emergency response incidents.
  • Act as a mentor, coach, trainer, and subject matter expert to support management teams.
  • Support corporate HSE activities.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation Claims and Return to Work programs.
  • Active participation and leadership of HSE committees within the supported locations.
  • Participation in relevant training measures in order to keep up to date on skills and expertise
  • Inform and consult on matters of planning, execution, and maintenance of equipment; purchasing technical equipment; training on health and safety procedures; designing workplaces / workstations, working processes as well as emergency precautions
  • Ability to work independently and capable of forming strong working relationships/partnerships with Site Leadership teams and hourly work force
  • A thorough knowledge of applicable government regulations, safety compliance, and industrial hygiene.
  • Business acumen, strong analytical skills, strategic thinking abilities, and an understanding of organizational behavior.
  • Maintain environmental data and reporting for compliance with corporate and state regulations.
  • Implement / maintain IMS systems for safety and environmental compliance.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Health & Safety or equivalent of education, professional certifications and experience. Health and Safety Engineering degree preferred.
  • Strong computer, written, oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent safety and health track record in programs and processes.
  • Prior labor relations experience is a plus.
  • 3-5 - Years of progressive relevant HSE experience.
  • Communication skills and the ability to influence others.
  • The ability to work as a member of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
