Amazon has an immediate opening for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support our Germany Data Center infrastructure growth initiatives. Based in our Frankfurt or Berlin offices, the TPM will lead cross functional teams to drive the implementation and deployment of data center expansion projects to meet the demands of our rapidly growing business, with a key focus on the permitting part of the build lifecycle.
A successful candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator both written and verbally, and will lead multi-discipline, highly technical project teams. You will be a fluent German speaker, who is an expert in building permitting in the Frankfurt and/or Berlin wider areas, with demonstrable experience being a single point of contact with government bodies, communities, and vendors for major construction projects.
Ideally you will have experience working in a complex engineering environment and will have worked as a technical project manager on increasingly complex projects. Your experience includes data center technologies like HVAC, power systems, cable plant, server, or networking. You will work comfortably with teams and peers from Real Estate, Design Engineering, Environmental, Construction Management, Finance, Procurement and Operations to name but a few. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial & fast paced environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.
The TIPM permitting role involves coordinating circa 15+ teams engaged in creating documentation for submission to the Government. The TIPM serves as the single source of truth for the project, owns the governance, issues a weekly report, provides input to leadership white papers, and consolidates all key information into a single point. They are accountable for setting the critical path and timeline for all work-streams, ensuring we are on track, managing actions and risks, and resolving any issues encountered as it relates to permitting. The TIPM permitting role ensures AWS are represented with city councils, mayors, government bodies, town hall meetings, and project meetings which may include design and/or construction vendors.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
