Then this is your place!
Our Institute of Materials Physics in Space in Cologne offers a
DLR-DAAD Doctoral Fellowship
Nr. 552: Structures in Water and Functional Materials
What to expect:
Structure determines the dynamics and hence the functionality in dense molecular liquids. Ab initio calculations allow the identification of such structures essentially from first principles. In the case of water some of these features are of quantum nature. Such features are possible but costly to simulate on a classical computer. And it is such features that are promising to deliver a quantum advantage on special quantum computing hardware. Beyond water, applications in materials physics are. Data analysis and the publication in international journals shall complete the tasks.
What we expect from you:
  • PhD in chemistry/physics or related field, experience in ab initio techniques
  • Experience in a range computer simulation techniques including ab initio; quantum computing; programming and data analysis
  • English competence: See requirements on www.daad.de/dlr
What we offer:
DLR stands for diversity, appreciation and equality for all people. We promote independent work and the individual development of our employees both personally and professionally. To this end, we offer numerous training and development opportunities. Equal opportunities are of particular importance to us, which is why we want to increase the proportion of women in science and management in particular. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preference if they are qualified.
