Origination & Advisory Technology

Origination & Advisory Technology aims to build long-term, trusted and mutually beneficial relationships with the major corporates, financial institutions, financial sponsors and sovereigns around the world. Our product is a core analytical platform serving various businesses and one of the key areas in Deutsche Bank’s strategy. In order to support the growth ambitions and to remain a leading global player in the competitive payments market, significant investment in the infrastructure of Deutsche Bank is applied.

The team consumes billions of records for reporting, deep data analysis, and advanced data science, and provides Deutsche Bank front office a clear view on client’s activity and profitability. We are building an interactive analytical platform, defining and tracking key business metrics, helping front office in day-to-day business decisions across Europe, APAC, and Americas.

As a Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer (f/m/x), you will play a key role in bridging business needs with technical solutions, ensuring high-quality data is available for decision-making. You will work closely with business stakeholders to analyze and document data flows, clarify requirements, and design ETL processes that align with modern data architecture principles. We are looking for an engineer with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of data modeling, and the ability to translate business needs into effective data solutions.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather and refine data requirements, analyze business areas, and document data flows.
  • Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Develop functional and system documentation for data processes and ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for data modeling, schema design, and data governance.
  • Support production deployments and provide 3rd level support for data-related issues.

Your skills and experiences

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in working with business stakeholders to clarify data requirements.
  • Proficiency in SQL, data modeling principles, and schema design (Kimball, Inmon, Star/Snowflake schema).
  • Hands-on experience with ETL development and working with various data ingestion technologies (Relational DBMS, HTTP APIs, streaming).
  • Ability to code in a JVM language (Java/Scala) and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and tools such as Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration, Apache Spark for data processing, and columnar databases (preferably ClickHouse).
