Our Data Centers runs critical IT infrastructure, it requires a reliable supply of uninterrupted cooling and power at all times, in order to deliver continuous uptime availability for our customers. Our Engineering Operations Managers (The Facility Operations Manager) are responsible for managing a team, overseeing the best in class operations and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure for his data centers in AWS Cloud region. They are self-managed people who demonstrate initiative mindset, proactively seeks solutions to problems and strives for operational excellency.

About the team
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities
Safety
· Set and maintain the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture.

People
· Hire, manage, develop and coach a team of line-level facility engineers.
· Collaborate with other teams including Finance, Safety, HR, Recruiting.
· Manage vendors and vendor contracting negotiations.

Operations and Maintenance
· Lead the engineering team in a mission critical 24x7 culture
· Manage key electrical and mechanical Data Center equipment, including HV/MV Transformers, Diesel Generators, UPS, Switchgear, ATS, Water and Air Cooled Chillers, CRACH and CRAC units, AHUs, Free Cooling Units, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
· Implement strategic maintenance scheduling of recurring preventive tasks
· Create resources and processes for the engineering team to respond to failures effectivly and perform corrective break-fix activities on mission-critical infrastructures.
· Review and approve equipment maintenance and repair processes and procedures as well as the ability to tactfully drive continuous organizational change management and improvements.
· Prepare for and manage the team through facility infrastructure incident management plan. This includes event planning, drill coordination, escalation, incident mitigation, and post event reporting and follow up.
· Adhere Data Center industry best practices for PUE management and long term strategic plan for achieving energy efficiency targets

GRUNDQUALIFIKATIONEN

• An Electrical or Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent
• 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in large scale critical services
• At least additional 4 years of experience as a manager of an engineering team in a mission critical 24x7 culture
• Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical facility by leading an engineering team
• Ability to respond effectively to critical events by guiding the engineering team for mitigating/resolving the root cause of the event

BEVORZUGTE QUALIFIKATIONEN

• 7+ years of Engineering and Management Experience in mission-critical operations environment (e.g. Data Center, nuclear facility, high technology manufacturing, healthcare, aviation maintenance, oil and gas) preferably linked to a 24/7 uninterrupted operations.
• Strong Electrical and/or Mechanical knowledge on Data Center Infrastructure, Industry Best practices
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of success in delivering complex projects
