Team:

The Public Affairs & Regulatory Strategy Manager, Capital markets will support the execution of the mission and objectives of the Public Affairs & Regulatory Strategy team within DWS Communications; Brand & CSR with a focus on relevant developments in global capital markets regulation (details as per below).

Your responsibilities:

  • Support the conceptualisation and execution of the engagement plan to increase DWS’ visibility as a leading voice of the asset management industry with relevant public sector stakeholders in the given topic area
  • First operational responsibility for leading DWS’ lobbying efforts on capital markets-related topics in geographical key business hubs, such as
    • Market infrastructures and market abuse, in Europe with a particular view to the EMIR and MAR/MAD frameworks
    • Fund product development and distribution (both for institutional and retail clients), in Europe with a particular view to the MiFIR/MiFID, UCITS, AIFMD and PRIIPS frameworks
    • Private retirement plans with business potential for DWS, e.g. the existing “Riester” framework in Germany
  • Responsible for executing DWS’ engagement with the public sector and its regulators where relevant for capital markets, as part of Public Affairs & Regulatory Strategy’s global outreach plan, supporting consistency and cohesiveness of messaging and narrative setting
  • Cooperate closely with the DWS Investment, Product and Client Coverage divisions, thereby managing differing positions to align views and prioritise policy issues.
  • Managing engagement and messaging calendars with the public sector as part of overall Communications & Marketing strategy
  • Coordinating between and advising DWS’ business divisions on public sector matters in capital markets regulation
  • Liaison with regional / local associations that DWS is a member in, with a view of ensuring a global one-voice policy in the topic area, as agreed with the Head of Public Affairs & Regulatory Strategy
  • Establish solid network with peer regulatory-policy experts on capital markets in relevant asset-management trade bodies (e.g. BVI, EFAMA, ALFI, TheIA, SIFMA)
  • Develop effective processes for updating and communicating key regulatory developments within DWS on topical developments in agreement with the line manager
  • Where relevant, coordinate DWS-individual consultation responses in the subject matter area.
  • Cooperate with other regional stakeholders within Communications & Marketing to leverage various communications channels where appropriate

Your qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • Some relevant work experience, ideally both with capital market rules and public / regulatory affairs
  • Some expertise in financial-market topics, especially from a regulatory and legal perspective
  • Ability to translate complicated topics into briefings, communication strategies and actions
  • Self-motivated and passionate; demonstrated ability to think creatively, and work strategically and operationally
  • Confident in interacting with stakeholders of all levels, including C-suite, developing and maintaining strong relationships
  • At least basic network to multipliers across the industry, the public sector and the lobbying scene
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, global environments and hierarchically flat organisations
  • Strong communication (written and oral) as well as interpersonal skills, enthusiastic team player and able to collaborate effectively with others to get things done.
  • Strong knowledge in MS utility products, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Europe (especially Berlin, Brussels, Paris) from time to time
