Bloomberg Intelligence - Emerging Markets Equity Research Strategist Latin America
The role:
As an Equity Strategist covering fundamental and thematic issues driving emerging market equities, you will be part of a fast-growing global team, responsible for research coverage and thought leadership on equity markets at large, investment themes and the relevance of thematic in investment strategies related to your region. This role will involve regular analysis of macroeconomic data and earnings trends impacting the key markets and sectors within your regional coverage, as well as detailed market performance and relative value analysis, and will provide modeled input to broader coverage of emerging and global equity markets.
A thematic equity strategist is expected to form strong model-driven perspectives on markets, as well as sometimes nascent and rapidly evolving technologies or topics, which requires collaboration with BE (Bloomberg Economics) BI and BNEF industry, legal, credit and quant analysts around the world. You will also work closely with best-in-class data scientists, engineers, Bloomberg Index and Core Product managers to create new relevant datasets and expand the reach of BI thematic strategy product. You will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of theme universes leveraging BI’s proprietary theme construction methodology. As part of the global equity strategy team, you will also be asked to model and integrate your regional market analysis into our global equity construct. The role requires frequent publishing of data-driven perspectives, development of analytical models on themes and equity markets to establish yourself as a thought leader. At BI, we do not make recommendations or estimates but will provide the data and insights necessary to make market assessments and enable portfolio decisions.

We'll trust you to:
- Develop a combination of repeatable flagship content and ad-hoc research covering the thematic investing landscape and regional equity markets.
- Serve as key partner to Bloomberg sales, product and index teams on regional equity strategies and all global themes under coverage.
- Support the development of junior team members.
- Expand discoverability of the BI equity and thematic strategy offering with the development of new data series, models and tools that support cross-market and theme research and analysis.
Requirements:
- Degree in Finance or related discipline .
- 5+ years as a publishing investment strategist covering equities, sectors, or themes with a major sell-side or economic research firm.
- Proven ability to generate data and model-driven analysis of equity markets and strong focus on quantifiable results.
- Direct experience building a differentiated franchise or research product to serve a diverse client base. A strong relationship network among market participants -- long only, hedge funds, asset owners -- will be a plus.
- Confidence in cultivating client relationships and balancing interests of multiple stakeholders (internal and external).
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills with a strong media presence.
- Strong organization skills and capable setting priorities, handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional critical thinking and desire to be an integral part of a fast-growing team.
We'd love to see:
- Previous experience with the Bloomberg Terminal.
- Sell-side or buy-side experience.
- Familiarity with equity market indices and econometric data sets.
- High attention to detail and demonstrable research and analytical skills.
- Programming experience in languages such as Python, MATLAB or R. Python preferred.
- Advanced degree and/or CFA, CMT designation.
