Summary: A balance operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a balance machine that measures the weight of products and materials.
Responsibilities:
- Balance paper machine rolls to required tolerances established by work order, supervisor and/or engineer
- Look for improvements in process and report to supervisor.
- Make balancing decisions on rolls, based on experience and available information.
- Transfer weights into shells, drill and tap and bolt into place.
- Access inside of rolls or components to transfer weights.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of computer to operate balancer.
- Must demonstrate mathematical ability, including trigonometry, to determine angles, deflections, weight transfers and/or vector splitting, required on the balancing process.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of machining processes, including a fundamental knowledge of balancing.
- Must know how to read blueprints
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Vocational School graduate in machine shop practices, or equivalent.
Physical demands:
- Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
- Must have manual dexterity in order to operate machines as directed.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Must wear gloves and ear protection.
